Genie Garage Door Openers

I would love to say that I love garage door openers, but sadly, I don’t have a garage. I live in an apartment, and that apartment comes with plenty of parking space out back, but has no garage. There are plenty of houses around me that have garages, but most of them are in the back alley. These homes have chosen to give up part of their yard in order to have their garage, and apparently, this was something that my landlord chose not to do.

That’s just fine with me, but I do know how great garage door openers can be. My dad has one, and he said it has made his life so much easier. We live in the Northeast, and the winters are brutal at times. When he gets home from work, or when he leaves for work in the morning, he says garage door openers save him from having to walk through snow or from getting pelted with sleet or freezing rain. His opener allows him to save wear and tear on his back as well. When you have a bad back and have to bend and pull to open a garage door, you are only going to make your back feel worse. They are convenient and practical.

Most garage door openers may not be as expensive as you might think, and getting them installed might not be too bad either. For the most part, you may be able to install one yourself. Don’t do it on your own if you have absolutely no idea what you are doing however, as you don’t want to make a mistake when installing garage door openers. You can cause a fire with bad wiring or you could install it so that it won’t work right. Neither is a good idea.

You can find good garage door openers in most home stores, and some department stores that sell electronics. This is one time when you want to spend a little extra to get one of the best models you can find. You’ve seen the commercials on TV where the garage door openers malfunction and someone’s car gets a beating. This can happen with a cheap model, so make sure you get one that is not only top of the line, but also one that has a sensor so that if it does malfunction it will stop before it hits your car, or a member of your family.
